Hey guys, just a quick update: everything is on hold right now as my husband got a new job, and we are in the process of selling our house and relocating. As soon as everything is situated, I will be back at it. The good news is, if things pan out I’ll be able to switch to working part time and writing the rest which will hopefully boost me from one book a year to two books a year. Fingers crossed!! I’ll post again as soon as I can.
Everyone, meet Norma.
Norma is a 1954 Ford F-100 that I bought my husband last year. He and I had both been wanting a classic vehicle for several years, but he tended to gravitate more toward the old muscle cars like the 70’s era mustangs, while I have long held a love affair with the old trucks. When we came across this beauty, I didn’t hesitate. He has since come to love the old trucks almost as much as I do, though I’m sure if someone found him a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 fastback he wouldn’t say no (although our pocketbooks would!).
This era of Ford trucks included expanded cabs, new grilles, and longer hoods. Redesigned front and rear leaf springs provided improved ride comfort, and the front suspension was shifted back to allow for a tighter turning radius out in the field. A wider, more comfortable seat was added, and the front and rear windshields were enlarged. Dash switches were relocated to bring them within easier reach, and 00s were added in 1953, turning the F-1 into the F-100.
These trucks were built to be the workhorses of their day. Ford integrated comfort, a luxury at the time, as well as the ability to haul all day long without missing a beat. Norma’s ride may not be the most comfortable there is, after all, early shock absorbers were in their infancy (the bench seat bounces to absorb as much as it can as well), but we enjoy riding in her around town as much as our modern day vehicles.
She’s become a part of our family. I named her after a famous Hollywood movie star of the time as you may have already guessed. My husband continues to work on the engine, tweaking it to give it as much modern dependability as possible, without losing her classic charm. I hope to some day have an old truck of my own, but for now, sharing Norma will have to suffice.
I hope you enjoyed this month’s Classic show and tell. Join me next month for a 1966 Chevy truck that sparked Keira’s love affair with classics.
Welcome to Keira’s Classic Corner, where we’ll explore the fantastic world of classic cars and trucks America’s highways and byways were built for. If you’ve read my Keira Blackwater novels, you know Keira is a classic car mechanic who loves and adores old vehicles as well as antiques, which mirror my own, as well as my husband’s, passion. I get to live vicariously through her, so when you read about her fixing and restoring a fairly rare or unusual old car or truck, a lot of the times it’s because I fantasize about being able to find those vehicles myself, though in most cases, finances prevent me from doing so. Or, if I discover a new car I think is fascinating, you may see Keira working on it in her next adventure. I plan to pick a new classic vehicle and post pictures, as well as info, and any other tidbits I can find on the first Thursday of each month. I’ll also let you know if that vehicle holds any significance for Keira, or for my husband or myself. I may try to find a way to include the occasional giveaway during this series. Look for my first post tomorrow!
Paranormal legends and folklore will be a new mini-series as well, but I haven’t picked what day yet, so stay tuned to find out. Some exciting things coming your way in 2018, so don’t miss out. Subscribe to my blog at the bottom of my home page to stay up to date.
Blood for Blood is now available for pre-order on Kindle through Amazon with an official release date of January 2. If you’re interested, click the link here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078H4TBFP
Thank you, I hope you enjoy!!
For anyone who hasn’t seen my website home page, the cover for Blood for Blood is up with the blurb so you can see what book 2 is about. I absolutely love the cover! Go check it out if you haven’t already. The release date is set for Jan. 2, and as soon as I go over everything to check for missed errors, the ebook will be available for pre-order on Amazon. I’ll post to let everyone know when the pre-order is up and running. I will also be doing a book release signing on Jan. 6 in Claremore at Boarding House Books if anyone would like to come meet me and pick up a signed copy. I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks as Keira’s story continues….
Hey guys, just a quick update. The edits and formatting for Blood for Blood are finally done. I can’t thank my editor Kristen Hamilton, of Kristen Corrects, enough for her help. I have launched my design contest for the book cover on 99designs, and will post it as soon as I have picked a winner. I don’t know about you, but I am so excited!! I’ll keep you posted on when I think the release date will be. Have a great day!
The release of Blood for Blood is fast approaching, and I can’t tell you how excited I am. Sam gets a special chapter in the book, one I think you guys will like (fingers crossed). I’m shooting for a mid-December release if all goes well, with a release party to be held at Boarding House Books on Main Street in Claremore. As soon as it’s set in stone, I will announce the date and time here and on my Facebook page.
I am doing a book signing for Blood Cure at Boarding House Books in Claremore this Friday and Saturday, the 17th & 18th, during Dickens on the Boulevard from 6-9pm. If you haven’t picked up a signed copy yet, or if you have a copy you would like me to sign, I would love to meet you.
My first Death Maiden novel is coming along well. It has a slightly darker flavor than the Keira series, and I am super excited for everyone to meet the new characters and hear your thoughts.
Have a great evening, and I hope to see you at my upcoming book signings!
From now through Sunday, November 12, the ebook for Blood Cure is on sale for $1.99. If you’ve been waiting to read it, or know someone who might like it, now is the perfect time to purchase it. With Blood for Blood, book 2, almost ready for release, don’t miss this chance to dive into Keira’s story for half the normal cost. Go check it out, and please remember to leave a review! Thanks. 🙂
The rough draft for Blood for Blood, Keira Blackwater #2, is finished! I am officially doing my happy dance. I started edits yesterday, plan to finish them up in the next week, then let my husband read it looking for errors I missed. Then on October 4th, my wonderful editor Kristen Hamilton takes over, and will do her magic. If everything goes smoothly, I hope to release it either in December (just in time for Christmas!), or early January. I can’t wait for everyone to read it and give me their thoughts.
In celebration of my new book getting ready to release, I will also be updating my website, Twitter, and Facebook banners. I am really excited about the new designs I have received from the designers at 99designs. I should have them up within the next few days, so check back and take a look at them, then drop me a line to let me know what you think.
Well, that’s it for now, I’m off to edit some more 🙂
I know I haven’t been on here much, but as I stated in an earlier post, I am working hard on Blood for Blood, the next installment in the Keira Blackwater series. I just started the scene that leads to the climax so it won’t be long now. 🙂
Something new and exciting is that I am now available on Barnes and Noble’s Nook, Apple iBooks, Inktera, and Kobo. So if you have one of these, you can go to my home page and scroll to where it lists online retailers and click the name of the one you want and it will take you directly to that page for purchase.
I’ve had to move a lot of the things I’ve wanted to do such as book bags, and some other fun stuff to the back burner in order to make my deadline with my editor, but once Blood for Blood is in her very capable hands I hope to be able to hash out some of these things and make them available. As always, I will post new things here and on my Facebook page for everyone to keep you updated.
Thanks for hanging with me, it’s sure to be a wild ride!
